Exploring the Seaside: Sand, Rocks & Waves
Inside the lesson
Children explored coastal colours, textures and movement, taking inspiration from sandy beaches, rocky shores and waves. Each child focused on the details that interested them most and developed their own version of the seaside.
They experimented with acrylic paint, textured surfaces, layers, marks and three-dimensional materials. We adapted the guidance to each child's interests and experience, giving them room to take the project in their own direction.
The finished pieces show how a shared theme can lead to very different artworks when children make their own creative choices.
